Career Start Date


Terry, the chief investment officer for Canadian fixed income, leads the Canadian fixed-income team at Manulife Investment Management. In this role, he’s responsible for the Toronto- and Montreal-based fixed-income and money market teams, which manage client portfolios in actively managed strategies within the investment-grade and high-yield sectors, including fixed-income balanced and other customized mandates.

Terry joined Manulife Investment Management as a senior portfolio manager for high-yield securities, and his responsibilities grew to include all of the company’s Canadian total return and passive bond portfolios, as well as overseeing the money market team. Terry first worked in Manulife Financial's investment department in 1987, ultimately becoming assistant vice president for U.S. bonds before becoming a senior portfolio manager of high-yield bonds at Royal Bank of Canada from 1996 to 1999. He was president of Tarian Capital Management from 1999 to 2002, the year that he rejoined Manulife. Prior to his first term at Manulife, he held roles of progressive responsibility at other large Canadian insurance companies and banks. Terry holds the Certified Financial Analyst designation, and is a member of Manulife Investment Management’s responsible investment committee.
