Global Multi-Asset Diversified Income

This dynamic income strategy blends the expertise of our global equity, fixed-income, and multi-asset solutions teams’ capability sets, with a goal of delivering a consistent gross distribution yield of 7.5%*, along with the potential for capital growth. The investment team uses a globally unconstrained approach, investing in fixed income and equities in addition to a specialized derivative overlay strategy in order to pursue a consistent yield in all types of market environments.

Philosophy

The team believes that the most effective way of achieving a high, stable income is through targeting a diversified range of asset classes that, when combined, should produce income in most market environments. The portfolio is constructed with income as a desired outcome: The team uses a differentiated approach to pursue yield, minimizing reliance on equity appreciation in favor of fixed-income holdings and an option strategy. They combine strategic asset allocation with a bottom-up approach to equity and credit research and selection, leveraging Manulife Investment Management’s global trading infrastructure and alpha generation process. The team also sells covered calls and collateralized puts to further enhance the yield and provide added downside protection.
