We believe in placemaking that promotes community. With nearly seven million square feet of active development projects in the pipeline, our buildings create opportunity, foster innovation, and are woven into history.

Creating spaces and shaping communities, for today and tomorrow

With over 90 years of development experience, we've seen how a simple vision and forward planning can result in beautifully designed buildings and thoughtfully curated spaces. Our development capabilities span across office, industrial, retail, and multifamily property types, leveraging a combination of world-class global partnerships and local expertise.

Our approach

We take a long-term approach to the development and management of our buildings, which allows us to focus on the customer and communities in ways that short-term planning doesn't. Our customers know that their best interests will be supported in the development or redevelopment of their buildings, and we'll work with them to ensure that their needs are met today and in the future.

Our objectives

We're committed to providing a sense of place and a sense of community in an ever-evolving landscape. Our customers drive our creativity, and we strive to develop spaces that will inspire them to do—and be—their best.

A transformative redevelopment in Edmonton's downtown core

Manulife Place, Edmonton, AB

$30 million redevelopment comencing in 2020

Landmark 36-story mixed-use retail and office tower

745,000 SF of office and 103,000 SF of retail

"We believe the city of Edmonton is undergoing a renaissance that will breathe life into its downtown service and amenity offerings. The repositioning of Manulife Place is integral to this evolution and we are excited to be a part of redefining the community."

With construction commencing in mid-2020, the project will include a major modernization of the exterior façade with multi-level transparent glazing and bright, new signage. A repositioning of the retail storefronts to the exterior of the centre will extend the shopping experience outwards, creating a visually dynamic and engaging streetscape.

In addition, the interior space will be refreshed with new porcelain flooring and LED lighting, as well as the creation of inviting communal spaces. A 45,000 square foot rooftop terrace will also be constructed, providing an acre of fully-landscaped parkland in the heart of downtown Edmonton—an amenity that is exclusive to Manulife Place.
