Corporate Head Office
220 Bloor Street E, Toronto, ON, Canada M4W 1E5
∙Office
By the 1980s, the company’s continued success prompted an expansion of the head office. This 13-story north tower broke ground on October 18, 1981, and was designed by Clifford Lawrie Bolton Ritchie Architects as a modern complement to the existing buildings. A notable feature of the north tower development is the freestanding copper-clad rotunda, linking the north and south towers on two levels. Within the rotunda, a combination of traditional and contemporary elements eased the transition between the old and new buildings and includes a stained-glass window designed by Canadian artist David Morgan. The rotunda was the first copper dome to be built in Canada in over 50 years. This building is 100% occupied by Manulife employees.
