Manulife Investment Management achieves Fitwel Viral Response Approval across 44 properties in North America

Manulife Investment Management today announced it achieved Fitwel Viral Response Approval across 44 properties in North America, furthering their commitment to the ongoing health and wellbeing of its tenants, employees, and partners. This approval at the building level follows Manulife Investment Management’s Fitwel Viral Response Module (VRM) certification with distinction at the entity-level in September 2021.

Fitwel is the world’s leading certification system committed to “Building Health for All®.” Originally created by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and U.S. General Services Administration, Fitwel is a rigorous, third-party healthy building certification that sets the industry standard for evidence-based strategies to promote positive health outcomes for building occupants and communities. Fitwel's VRM was developed in coordination with leading public health experts and real estate companies to effectively address the unique challenges associated with the COVID-19 pandemic and other infectious respiratory diseases. Fitwel Viral Response Approval signifies that a property has aligned with the specified practices and policies detailed in Manulife Investment Management’s Viral Response Module certification.

“We were proud to have achieved Fitwel Viral Response Module certification and worked with our teams to ensure the science-based policies and procedures were implemented,” said Regan Smith, head of real estate sustainability at Manulife Investment Management. “Congratulations to the teams for helping to safeguard the health and wellbeing of our building occupants. We look forward to the continued implementation of the approval across our North American real estate portfolio.”
