Employee giving programs

We offer employees a variety of ways to support the causes they care about. Volunteer programs give them opportunities to improve their skills, meet and interact with people in their communities, and give something back while increasing the impact of our investment.

  • Every Manulife employee has a paid day off each year to volunteer at a registered charity or non-profit organization. That adds up to over 30,000 volunteer hours per year.
  • Our annual employee giving campaign matches each employee’s contribution to any registered Canadian charity, up to $4000 per employee.
  • Each year, millions of dollars in donations, sponsorships, and other community investments are raised through our Volunteer Day, fundraising matches, team volunteer grants, and more.

Diversity, equity, inclusion

Manulife is investing millions of dollars over the next two years to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace and the communities we serve. Three key goals of these focused investments are:

  • increasing representation of black, indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) professionals through graduate programs, leadership recruitment, and career development
  • educating employees with regular forums to encourage and strengthen conversations that will build understanding of inclusion and connection, as well as targeted training for managers on leading inclusively, in addition to our current, continuing mandatory unconscious bias training
  • supporting communities through donations and volunteer opportunities focused on financial education and career mentoring.
