Alex Grassino, BA, MSc

Alex is the firm’s global chief economist and leads the macro strategy team, which forecasts macroeconomic and financial trends and analyzes the economy and capital markets for potential opportunities and risks. He’s also a key contributor to thought leadership both within the firm and externally. In addition to his work on the Multi-Asset Solutions Team’s returns forecast process, Alex provides portfolio and positioning views, directs thematic research, contributes to and coordinates internal and external publications, and is an active participant in various internal investment and risk committees. Prior to joining Manulife, Alex worked as a macro research analyst with Standard Life Investments and, before that, he held various roles at Laurentian Bank Securities that include equity research analyst and financial markets economist.

Dominique Lapointe, CFA

Dominique provides global macroeconomic and financial market research for the Multi-Asset Solutions Team, focusing on North America, namely Canada and the United States. Prior to joining the firm, Dominique was at Laurentian Bank Securities, where he served as a senior economist, and before that, he was a senior analyst with the Institute of Fiscal Studies and Democracy at University of Ottawa. He also worked at BCA Research and the Department of Finance, Canada. Dominique holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Erica Camilleri, CFA

Erica produces global macro and capital market research while developing cross-asset trade solutions. She works alongside portfolio managers on the firm’s Multi-Asset Solutions Team to assist in strategic and tactical investment decisions. Erica contributes to internal and external thought leadership and is a sought-after conference speaker. She joined the team as part of a rotational program, after having completed previous rotations on the asset allocation, public equity, and global macroeconomic strategy teams. Prior to joining the firm, she worked at KPMG. Erica holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of the CFA Society Toronto.

Hugo Bélanger

Yuting Shao

Yuting specializes in emerging markets in Asia and contributes to the development of global multi-asset strategy views within the firm’s Multi-Asset Solutions Team. Before joining Manulife Investment Management, Yuting spent four years with State Street Global Markets in Hong Kong as a macro strategist, focusing on China and emerging markets in Asia. Earlier in her career, she worked as a research analyst in the strategy, policy, and review department for the International Monetary Fund, where she focused on foreign exchange and cross-border capital flows.
