Brett heads the systematic equity beta investment team, whose funds track equity indexes in Canada, the United States, Japan, and Hong Kong, as well as international indexes. He’s responsible for managing the desk, which includes two senior portfolio managers and three analysts, and he’s also part of the management team responsible for the development and management of a suite of exchange-traded funds (ETFs). The team’s tasks include formulating tracking error policy, reviewing index rebalancing methodology and the setting of index benchmarks, and tracking error targets. In addition to standard index products, the team creates and manages against custom benchmarks as well as executing all foreign exchange trades for all the equity desks in Toronto. Previously, Brett was senior portfolio manager responsible for U.S. equities at the firm. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
