Brazil forest management

We’ve been providing sustainable management and administration services for forest plantations in Brazil since 2005, and we're passionately committed to providing a safe working environment and responsible stewardship on the properties we manage.

Manulife Investment Management is committed to managing our clients’ forests sustainably and responsibly. It's our goal to protect the future productivity of the land and ensure that the soil, water, biodiversity, and community values of the forests we manage are maintained or improved over time. In 2021, Hancock Natural Resource Group adopted the Manulife Investment Management brand. In Brazil, our forest operations now operate under Manulife Investment Management Florestas e Agricultura Ltda (MFM (BR))—formerly Hancock Investimentos em Florestas e Agricultura Ltda.

Property management

As of March 31, 2023, we manage over 56,000 hectares (138,000 acres) of plantation forest on behalf of our investors. The timberlands we manage are located in the Mato Grosso do Sul state, in the Midwest area of Brazil. Our team, made up of experienced forestry and management professionals, is strongly committed to providing a safe work environment and being responsible to the environment and the community.

Safe working environment

Safety is a core value. To us, nothing is more important than providing a safe working environment and no business objective will take priority over health and safety.

Forest certification

We're committed to responsibly and sustainably managing our clients' forests and plantations. It’s our goal to protect and secure the future productivity of the land and ensure that the soils, water, biodiversity, and community values of the forests we manage are maintained and improved over time. We believe that responsible stewardship of the environment and constructive engagement with our stakeholders and the communities neighboring the areas in which we operate are crucial to long-term success.
