We've been providing sustainable plantation management services in Chile since 2014, and we're passionately committed to providing a safe working environment and responsible stewardship on the properties we manage.
We manage our clients’ forests sustainably and responsibly because it’s our goal to protect the future productivity of the land and ensure that the soil, water, biodiversity, and community values of the forests we manage are maintained or improved over time. In 2021, Hancock Natural Resource Group adopted the Manulife Investment Management brand, and in Chile, our forest operations now operate under Manulife Investment Management Forestal y Agrícola SpA (MFA (CL)), formerly Hancock Forestal y Agrícola South America SpA.
Property management
MFA (CL) was formed in 2019 with the aim of providing forest management services on behalf of two clients and, as of March 31, 2023, we manage approximately 73,000 hectares (180,000 acres) for our investors. The properties we manage are located between the regions of Ñuble and Los Lagos, in the south-central area of Chile.

Forest certification
MFA (CL) is committed to responsibly and sustainably managing our clients' forests and plantations, ensuring their protection and productivity now and into the future. We believe that responsible stewardship of the environment and constructive engagement with our stakeholders and the communities neighboring the areas in which we operate are crucial to long-term success.
FSC® certification
The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)® is an international nonprofit organization founded in 1994 with the mission to "promote environmentally sound, socially beneficial and economically prosperous management of the world's forests." The FSC® has developed a set of 10 principles with their associated criteria (70), which are internationally applicable. MFA (CL) has been certified since 2019 (certificate code SGS-FM/COC-800024). To obtain FSC® certification, we’re audited annually by independent auditors accredited by the FSC®.
